PERSONAL TRAINING & CUSTOM NUTRITION IN EDINBURGH

Hi!

I’m Alex, I am from a small town in the north of Scotland called Forres. As a personal trainer in Edinburgh I've helped thousands of people transform their body and reach their fitness goals.

From a young age I was always passionate about exercise, and as I got older I knew I wanted to get into the fitness industry and make it a career. I studied sports coaching for 3 years and then fitness, health and exercise. I then studied my level 3 personal training as my passion is to help people on a 1-1 basis with their own unique journey.

I've been offering personal training in Edinburgh since 2014, helping busy individuals achieve fat loss and body tran
sformations using resistance training and coaching them through their nutrition.

I have delivered thousands of 1-1 pt sessions working with a range of clients, all with different goals and needs. I have a high level of attention to detail and pride myself on delivering the best service possible. All training and nutrition is specific to the client!

I am located at Gym On The Square, an exclusive private pt gym situated in the heart of Edinburgh on Charlotte Square.

As part of your journey with ASPersonalTraining, you will receive a tailored coaching programme and your own key so you can use the private gym facilities outside of our sessions!

  • How much is a PT in Edinburgh?
The average cost of a pt in Edinburgh ranges from £35 to £80 per hour, with most sessions typically priced around £40 to £50.
  • How many Personal Training sessions should you have a week?
For optimal results, I recommend scheduling 2-3 sessions per week.
  • Should a beginner hire a personal trainer?
Absolutely! I strongly encourage beginners to start off with some sessions, as I can teach you how to correctly perform exercises for your goals and body. Many beginners or fitness-returners also face gym anxiety which may hold them back from doing what they really want to do. Check out my blog on Why Personal Training will help you beat your Gym Anxiety. I train from an exclusive private coaching gym situated in the heart of Edinburgh on Charlotte Square, rather than a big busy gym, making it ideal for beginners.
  • How long should you have a personal trainer?
I recommend working with a trainer for at least 6 months to experience significant progress and lasting results. Whatever your goals are now, I can help you reach them!
  • Do I need a personal trainer in the gym?
Absolutely! I provide personalised guidance, support and tailored programming.. It’s important to have an expert supporting you, to ensure proper gym form and technique, which prevents short-term and long-term injury and so you can get the most from each exercise.
  • Is it worth paying for a PT?
Definitely! Through tailored workouts, accountability, and expertise I help you not only reach your current goals, but prevent injury and build cardio fitness and bone-health for the future. Extensive research has shown the benefits of resistance training for longevity.
  • What should I expect from my first PT session?
During your first pt session, you can expect to learn exercise techniques, understand how your body moves and gradually be challenged in a fun and safe environment.
  • Is 30 minutes with a personal trainer enough?
While 30-minute sessions can be beneficial, I recommend we train for a minimum of 45 minutes, 2-3 times per week for optimal results.
  • Is 6 months enough time to get in shape?
In 6 months, you can make significant progress and see improvements in strength and physique. However, individual results may vary depending on various factors such as consistency, effort, and starting point.
  • Why choose AS Personal Training?
I am a dedicated Personal Trainer in Edinburgh. If you're looking to achieve your fitness goals, transform your body and unlock your true potential, you need expert guidance. With years of experience and a passion for helping individuals like you, I am committed to providing personalised training programmes to help you reach your specific goals.

About Me

If you’ve been thinking of getting a personal trainer in Edinburgh but don’t know where to start, there’s several useful things to find out before you commit. It’s important to work with someone who not only matches your goals and motivations, but is invested in your journey. You want a trainer who will go the extra mile to help you achieve your goals - which is exactly what I do at ASPersonalTraining. Below I’ve answered 5 questions that I’m asked a lot, to help you make the best decision for your future.

1. What Are Your Qualifications and Experience?

When entrusting someone with your fitness journey, it's helpful to understand their qualifications and experience. Experience in working with clients similar to your goals will also provide added confidence in their ability to guide you effectively. I’ve been a PT in Edinburgh since 2014, after studying sports coaching for 3 years and then fitness, health and exercise, followed by Level 3 Personal Training. My experience gives me a bespoke understanding of what each client needs. I create tailored fitness, nutrition and strength coaching plans, supporting you every step of the way to achieve your goals - whether that’s fat loss, muscle-gain, improving fitness or a full-on body transformation.

2. What’s your personal training approach?

Health and lifestyle changes are never just about fitness. I offer a 360° approach, covering everything from 1-1 fitness and strength sessions, to nutrition coaching with tailored recipe packs. I even have my own app for both my online and 1-1 coaching clients - the ASPersonalTraining app, so whether you live in Scotland or want online support, I’m here to help you reach your goals.

3. How do you keep me motivated?

I’ve been offering pt sessions since 2014, so I understand that it’s never a one-size-fits-all approach. Fitness journeys are hard work, but the rewards are immense. I am committed to keeping you inspired, focused and determined to reach your goals with weekly check-ins, goal-tracking, feedback and an updated programme every 4-weeks. I can be as involved as you wish, whether we train once weekly or every other day (the optimal number of sessions is between 2-3 a week).

4. Do you have client testimonials and success stories?

Please look at my transformations page for some epic transformations! I also have full 5* Google reviews and regularly post updates on my Instagram. If you struggle to reach your goals or feel like you go around in circles, I’m here to offer you a clear and simple plan of action online or in-person. Get in touch today.

5. How long will it take to get in shape?

Be wary of personal trainers who offer unrealistic targets just to rope you in! In our first session I get a thorough understanding of your goals and fitness history, which will help me create a realistic plan to reach them. No challenge is too big or small, but it will take hard work and dedication. Time commitment is also a big factor - many people notice results pretty quickly with 2-3 pt sessions a week, but I understand this isn’t feasible for everyone so it’s about working out what you can offer, and what I can do to help you get there.

It’s also important to attain balance. Rather than focussing on a quick fix or crash diet, a longer-term approach helps prevent injury and maintains your weight loss and motivation. There’s nothing worse than bouncing back from a goal because you rushed to the finish line too fast.
